Aerial Display @ Singapore Air Show 2012

Pièce de résistance of the Singapore Air Show 2012 was definitely the Aerial Display.

I liked the RAAF (using Roulettes) most, because of the change in formations,  followed by Tony Blair (Rebel 300), though I didn't manage to capture any of his pics. His show was too exciting and his plane, too small to capture on my shitty cam. I even missed the part which happened a few times, where the RSAF F15 and F16 flew over each other.

This is for you Karirin - SAAB

By the time I reached this booth, it was closing time, and I was mechanically taking photos because my brain had hazed over with all the meetings that were being scheduled for tomorrow.
I realize now that if I had looked down, I would also see the word SAAB

I was fascinated by what the man was doing, and explaining to us, when I happened to look up and noticed that we were at the SAAB booth. Yes, Karirin's beloved SAAB.
But I was very tired, and so was the camera (battery weakening). On hindsight, it seemed the shots are getting worse, but I didn't realize and was too tired to QC. So sorry about that, Karirin.
So annoying they kept keeping all the weapons cos it's closing time

Singapore Air Show 2012 (Part 1)

What is this?
I was at Singapore Air Show 2012 today.

I had thought about it. Should I take the MRT through the morning's worst peak hour all the way to Changi Airport terminal and then still have to S$5? That would be stupid, because I live pretty near the hotels, so it would make more sense to take the hotel bus, even if it was S$10 one way.

I was later applauding myself on my decision because I got to sleep on a lovely air-conditioned travel bus, while others were packed into public buses where they would probably have to stand as well, despite S$5. Too bad the hotel buses only work on the trade days because most of the vendors will return before or on Saturday.
I guess it is more fun when you come on the weekends because they have all the fun stuff for families to enjoy. Also the USA Department of Defense is giving away the good stuff (souvenirs, duh) only on the weekends. But one thing good about going on a trade day is that you get to see the stuff that most people won't, and there are definitely LESSER PEOPLE shoving into your shots.

Do remember to bring hats, sun block, lots of water, and patience. =D Two years ago, I was selfless enough to forfeit my trade pass and pay $$ to go with B1 on the weekend. Not anymore =D.

This time I really GG

I can feel the heat coming from under my skin.... you know when you grossly sun burn yourself so badly, you can feel like you are wearing a thermal pack instead of your birthday suit.

I am puzzled how come I would forget to wear sun block. This coming from the one person who is so paranoid about melanoma that she even wears waterproof sunblock (SPF50) into the swimming pool. WTF, *censored*, seriously how dumb can you get?

It really didn't pop into my brain. I think I must be so damn elated to be able to run out of work, that I just happily pushed all my meetings to Friday and covered all my responsibilities for today. Work kept calling throughout the day, even while I was trying to sleep off my heatstroke-induced exhaustion on the bus. I supposed I should be happy that this means I am needed and have a job.

I got so high from the heatstroke that I didn't even know I was swigging water from someone's leftover bottle (same table). I am still in a somewhat high mood now. Fuck. I should be glad at least that the burn is limited to my neck and face and not the back of my neck and legs. The back of my neck was spared because of my hair which I wore down today, and my legs because I was wearing pants for once.
WTF. Seriously. 2 of them, and I didn't bring any. Esp after I ran back to the old house some more...
Usually I don't wear pants, preferring dresses or skirts. However I was taught a very bad lesson on the error of my ways, i.e. not wearing pants when visiting Military Bases, when I was 12. My cousins and I went to a Naval Base opening. I was wearing my favorite denim skirt, ah the poor thing, which was very short. Anyway back then even though I was already in a convent school, that convent school didn't really inculcate the "wear shorts under your skirt at all times" culture in me yet.

So everything was ok, except when I tried to climb down the stairs off the side of a warship... my skirt was caught on the stairs, and I wasn't aware. C (my older cousin, remember her) went down first, and a cute Naval guy was helping me, with an older man waiting after me. So when I went down the second rung (much further), I distinctly heard the always-dreaded "spizzzt". The bloody skirt tore upwards my right seam, until it reached my skirt. I was SO MORTIFIED.

Bewildered I looked up. The Naval guy was slack-jawed, while the uncle was staring hard at the tiny bit of white that was peeping through the torn cloth. Bloody uncle. My aunt came from behind and shoved the uncle. Nice save. And she told me to climb up, then she unhinged my skirt from the stair and I had to climb down again, red-faced...

Don't worry I didn't go home half-naked. C came to the rescue, much to her OCD disgust. She apparently came from a convent school, which inculcated the "wear shorts under your skirt at all times" culture in her so well she was wearing PE shorts under her jeans. Gott sei dank. Aunt made her take it off and pass it to an equally disgusted but grateful me.

B1 is happily singing along with my "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" (Kelly Clarkson) which is blasting from my speakers now. Ass. He is truly enjoying my sunburn.

Happy Valentine's Day

I am in a super ebullient mood today. People who know me in real life will know that I am usually more emo and pissed than happy, due to lack of sleep and STRESS.

This is because I love Valentine's Day. Smack yourself now if you instantly think "it's just a commercial gimmick", unless you are a guy. Yes, Valentine's Day is a retail exploit of love, but think of it, 365 days in a year, you can't even pull out something nice for your other half on this special day? Then I think your relationship is pretty stagnant.

Anyway even though today *censored* and I had to miss the early part of a vendor conference that I wanted to attend (sad), but I was still in a good mood after everything was resolved. So I bought 18 donuts for all the naughty little boys (they sure made my life hell in December and January with the stunts they pulled) and their in-charge. I had overheard the boys complaining that they have to stay back because of the *censored*. I asked them if they had any plans tonight, they said no, which I thought that was kind of sad.
B1's flowers
I bought mostly dark colors and chocolate because I knew the boys won't eat any girly colored ones and I didn't want them to fight over the nicer chocolate ones. Their in-charge told me that those boys really left the only pink one to her hahaha. I also bought a lovely tin of chocolate for Bär who is single and looking after his sick mother. Everything wasn't cheap but I wanted to spread the cheer. =D

Cheers everyone! Hug your loved ones extra hard today!!!!
