Mr Bär works hard for a living

Not sure why this weekend I have been suddenly more arty farty, but perhaps because of yet another death in the (extended) family (3rd one already this year?! This is a strange year, literally "four weddings and a funeral", lots of marriages because it is Dragon Year and yet many deaths than usual).
As I mentioned in my blog, I have been sewing felt toys, and on Saturday, I painted a Mr Working Bear.
He's going  right on the wall, under my other Bear, so I painted him with a similar background color (though with more yellow. I painted cadium yellow deep then pressed against the canvas with bright yellow).

Now as I stand in front of the two pictures, I comment drily to B1, "this bear picture makes me feel like I should 上香 to him. He kind of looks like a picture in a columbarium niche."

B1 replies, "yeah, he was a hardworking bear. He worked himself to the paw to bring you these fine goods."

Somebody obviously has been playing too much Diablo3.

A little easter present...

I was in a dead rush on Friday night, after I bought the 2 pieces of 6"X6" canvas boards in the afternoon. I didn't have much time before Easter =D, and these things got a long distance to fly.

I hope the recipients like the presents (it's a surprise!), I stayed up pretty late on Friday doing them. I wasn't very good with the colors, because too tired *hehe* so the colors came out a bit weird for the bear. Initially I thought the background for the duckie would look weird too, but it ended up looking better than the big version (still not completed).

I apologize for the bad quality of the stroke marks because I used a 3B pencil, which is pretty dark. I had to repaint and cover the duckie's wings with white to disguise the pencil markings. So the paint is pretty thick. Oopz. Don't you like how the photos make the pictures look better than they actually do? =D

Die Calla

The Calla Lily. Completed 18th December 2011.

I think I have improved since the Sunflower. However I didn't do many textures for this, having overdone it for the sunflower. I think I would like to have a palette knife for Christmas.

I will probably do another version of the Calla Lily. It is my favorite flower after all.

Calla Lily - 1st Layer

The idiot I am, I bought too many shades of yellow, so I was thinking of painting another sunflower. But I think it's overkill, so I decided to paint my favorite flower. The Calla Lily.
The part where the white meets the yellow was a boo-boo, which I hurriedly rubbed away. =P

The Sunflower [completed]

Now I just need to wait for it to dry for a few weeks before I apply the varnish.
